Saturday mornings seem to be the perfect time to blog.

The beginning of the week usually starts of with me thinking "Ok, only four more days for the weekend", and the countdown continues every hour for the rest of the week.
This Friday, John and I pretended to work past 2 P.M having nothing to do with the Professor out of town.
So we sent each other shit emoticons on Gchat.
~@~
This has to be the most amazing emoticon I've ever seen.
After ten minutes of back and forth 'shit-emoticon-sending', it lost its charm and we decided to walk down and get a coffee. 'And also decided not to come back to lab.
So we whined to Valentina, the post doc about how the weather was nice outside and we were going to read some research papers.
Three steps out of the lab and I whispered "Good time Charleys and a pitcher of Killians. Screw coffee".
And so went off to South U, and our favorite bar to have a drink.
We sat outside and watched all the people in the art fair walk back and forth, commenting on the hot mothers, the whiney freshman and the old white women.
Which was when I exclaimed " I have never seen so many old white women in one place. What is this? Are you sure its not a secret 'Over 40-white-woman-convention' called the 'Ann arbor art fair instead?'
I decided every time I saw one, I would make a noise that went 'wlobet'. It sounds similar to the sound I make when I see freshman/ fresh meat which is 'weebeet'.
John's getting used to me.
He didn't know how to react to my 'Thang oo', 'Welgum', 'Just won nimute', 'What ay super band on my gel' to the point that he thought I was speaking a different language and was tryin to pick it up thinking he was learning something cultural from India.
He's started saying 'Welgum' now.
Thank god for a co-worker who puts up with my nonsense and encourages it too.

Perhaps its the weather in Ann Arbor this Saturday morning that inspires me to blog.
Perhaps its because the five different blogs that I started were not close to my heart like this one.
Perhaps its because this is the first time in a few months that I've sat for more than an hour in front of a computer.

Maybe its the music that I have playing.
Maybe its because of the blogs I've been reading.
Maybe its because I need to seek redemption for my lousy, immature writing that I put forth two years back.

Whatever it is, I think I'm back

It definitely had been a long time since I blogged.
This is something I had in mind for a long time...

I found myself being more racially discrimated by Indian Americans or as we fondly call 'ABCD's' than Americans themselves.

So one of Briggs's friends always found it hilarious to come to me and speak in an Abu from the Simpsons accent...And then say that he 'loved my Indian accent'
Like seriously?
I was offended. I was upset. And i did cry.
And I would never say anything back to him for fear of offending the boyfriend's friend.
Where were my balls?

So for all the ABCD's that I know or met...I cringed when you one of you sang the National anthem at one of the cultural events. I don't blame you. You are neither here not there.
Let me remind you that your parents probably have a 'thicker accent' than I do. I will say 'wateer' than 'waterrzh'. I will say 'Her-bal' and not 'Erbal'. I will say 'beer and not 'be-zher'. And this does not make you or me better than either.

At the end of the day....I know my place....I know I'm not white..
You are still the confused desi trying to fit in with them and us..

So perhaps you would like to think TWICE about making fun of my accent or my background because I am not very different from you or your parents. And it is sad that you try to be....

Ugh
I have absolute repulsion for the most of you I have met.
Ugh

I will admit that my writing has fallen down a steep slope.
But for him to read my statement of purpose and say that it was like a ninth grader's and that it was high time I learnt how to write since I want to do a PhD....I mean..seriously?
Seriously?
Oh well..Looks like I'm back to blogging.
Hurray

And a 5$ meal at Panda express says

"The fact that others are bad does not imply that you are good."

My lucky numbers are 1,9,18,22,31,46 till my next lunch.

And if you want to Learn Chinese - 'fong bein' means convenience.

Sigh

I love listening to Big Boy on 95.5.
Some people cringe when they hear the raunchy and vulgar R.J on the radio but I fall under the category of women who croon 'Big Boy..I lurrrve you!'.
So right now while I study different ways to package DNA into a chromosome, I am very very very disappointed and upset to find out that Big Boy is WHITE.
Really.
He should start talking white and not fool innocent FOBs like me.
Blech.
But then again, I'll just pretend he looks like Biggie.
Sigh
